In Pokémon, there are many different ways to ensure you take the strongest Pokémon possible — the right moves, the maximum corporeality of Grit investment, and of grade, Natures. Natures are important for Pokémon, as they tin influence stats by 10%. If you're curious on how to selection the right Nature for your Pokémon, expect no farther.

Pokémon attacks are carve up into ii categories: Concrete and Special. Concrete attack damage is influenced by your Pokémon's Attack stat and the defending Pokémon's Defense stat, while Special Attack harm is influenced past your Pokémon'due south Special Attack stat and the defending Pokémon's Special Defence stat.   • Rash: Special Assault Upward, Special Defence Down
  • Calm: Special Defense Up, Attack Downwards
  • Gentle: Special Defense Up, Defence Downwards
  • Sassy: Special Defense Upwards, Speed Down
  • Conscientious: Special Defense Upwards, Special Attack Downwards

The fob to choosing the right Nature for your Pokémon is looking at two main things:

  • What blazon of attacks does your Pokémon take access to?
  • What stat is higher: Attack or Special Attack? Defense or Special Defense?

Speed is e'er important: you typically do not want to lower Speed. The one instance you would take in previous games was Trick Room, a motility that allowed slower Pokémon to become starting time. Trick Room is non in Arceus, and then y'all do not need to worry near it.

We will use Alakazam for an example: Alakazam is a Pokémon with loftier Special Attack and low Attack. Alakazam gets access to many powerful Special Attack moves, such as Psychic and Shadow Ball. In this example, we would want to cull the Modest or Timid Natures, to maximize either Special Set on or Speed at the expense of Set on, a stat nosotros wouldn't utilise.

Some other example: Landorus. This Pokémon has high Assault and high Special Attack, just the Assault stat is higher. Landorus has admission to a new move called Sandsear Tempest, which is a Special Attack, but also access to moves like Outrage and Stone Edge, which are physical Attacks. You could go either way, but because the Set on stat is college, we would recommend Jolly or Determined to maximize your damage.
